
Marcelo Galvão (Rio de Janeiro, December 11, 1973) is graduated in Advertising from FAAP and studied Filmmaking at New York Film Academy. In 2001, he set up the film production company Gatacine. Since then, he directed six feature films: Farewell; Buddies; La Riña, The Pit; Bellini and the Devil; Fourth Grade B; and Side B: How to make a feature film with no money in Brazil.
He won over 50 awards in important festivals such as “Best Film” at Gramado Film Festival, São Paulo International Film Festival, International Disability Film Festival Breaking Down Barriers (Russia), Latin-American Film Festival of Trieste (Italy), FESTin – Itinerant Film Festival of Portuguese Language (Portugal) and Brazilian Film Festival of New York.
He won the “Best Director” award at Gramado Film Festival (Brazil); Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival (USA); Brazilian Film & TV Festival of Toronto (Canada); Anápolis Film Festival (Brazil); Diva Film Festival (Chile); Festival Internacional de Cine de Las Tres Fronteras (Argentina) as well as “Best Screenwriter” at Paulínia Film Festival and “Best Editing” at Anápolis Film Festival (both in Brazil).
